LCA hosted the Walton County XC Championships on Tuesday, October 9

Our varsity athletes have been working hard towards the GISA Region Meet on October 20, so the County meet was a big test to see where we are and they did not disappoint. Caleb Gary stole the show for the Lions dropping more than a minute from his personal best time, running 20:19 for a 5K. Tucker Echols also dropped a solid minute, running 22:17. Both moving in the right direction as we prepare for Region.

On the girls side, Paxton Yancey ran a huge personal best, dropping nearly two minutes from her personal best time with a 24:48. Ava Meier also dropped time - about 20 seconds.

To qualify for the state meet, the varsity athletes must finish Top 10 at the Region Meet in Augusta on October 20.

This was middle school’s 3rd race in 10 days and they did a great job emptying their tanks.

Middle School boys placed second in the team division behind Loganville Middle School. All 5 boys continue to push each other and finish as a pack, making them tough to beat. Teagan Swanepoel, Blake Callaway, Matthew Scruggs, and Austin Spencer all finished Top 10 in the middle school boys race.

In the middle school girls race, Azalea Snell and Penelope Pourchier both placed Top 10. The girls team placed 3rd.

Middle School will rest for the remainder of week and get their legs back underneath them before we travel to Cochran this Saturday for the final middle school meet of the season - the GHSA Middle School State Meet. This will give us a taste of what life will be like in 2020! Tough competition makes everyone faster. We can’t wait!

Varsity will continue to train and look towards the Region Meet on October 20.

Way to go, Lions!
