XC Region Meet Recap

We had some great runs at the region meet. Ultimately, we came up a little short for state but we were not short on effort and for that I am proud of each of you.

Christopher quietly stalked his marks and finished with a course PR of 19:02, just 5 seconds away from his all-time best. Christopher had one job … to finish ahead of GWA. He did it … with a quiet, intentional accuracy that is uniquely his style. He finished 16th (ahead of three GWA runners who finished 17, 18, and 19). Perfect.

Caleb had a great run at region and finished with a season PR of more than a minute (20:03). This was also the second fastest 5K of his high school XC career. Caleb has been a leader on this team for three years and his example and work ethic will be missed next fall.

Teagan finished right behind Caleb with a great run and course PR of 20:08. Luke dropped more than :30 seconds for ANOTHER BIG PR with a 20:32. Clayton and Austin had impressive runs, especially considering they weren’t with us all season. They ran 21:21 and 21:58, respectively.

On the girls side, Anna Meyers ran sub-24 for the first time with a big PR of 23:11. Impressive, especially on a windy day and a hilly course. Penelope ran a great time of 24:40. Paxton ran a season PR of 25:22 at the region meet, followed by Presley who ran a course PR of more than :45 seconds. Isabelle and Chloe steadily improved all season and finished strong on a tough region course.

Eighth graders Azalea and Corbin represented LCA in the JV race and both had great runs. Azalea won the girls race and Corbin finished 12th in the boys race. We look forward to having them in the high school program next fall.
