Christopher Morton, Teagan Swanepoel, and Bryce Browne placed Top 20 in the middle school boys race (8th, 10th, and 14th). This is Christopher’s first year running XC and he has placed Top 10 in every meet so far. Teagan dropped significant time from this meet last season. Corbin Smith (45) and Christian Poston (150) rounded out our top 5, followed by Hank Snell (177), Bryce Richardson (179), and Jayden Scott (188). The middle school boys team placed 6th out of 16 teams (280 total runners).
The middle school girls also had three runners in the Top 20: Azalea Snell, 1st; Penelope Pourchier, 14th, and Anna Meyers, 19th. Azalea, Anna, and Emery Loyless all dropped time from this same race last season. Ella Masterson (72) and McKenna Thacker (73) rounded out our top 5, followed by Emery (74) and Laine Bullington (195). The girls team placed 5th out of 15 teams (225 total runners).
Our varsity runners all ran strong races with times comparable to last season in spite of some serious heat and humidity this year. Chloe Helsens placed 57thin the varsity girls race out of nearly 100 runners. Caleb Gary placed 58th, followed by Tucker Echols (85) and Sam Bach (96) in the varsity boys race, which had more than 125 runners.
The Lions have two weeks off before they line up at the Horse Park in Conyers for the very large Aubrae Gunderson Invitational on 9/21.
