GISA Clay Targets State Meet

December 7-8th found LCA's Clay Target team in their State Meet at the Forest City Gun Club in Savannah.  Out of 20 teams in the Scholastic Division, the second year Lions finished number 11.  Our team battled cold, wind and threatening skies to post strong scores for a young team with 9 of their 19 shooters being in 9th or 10th grade.  The overall team winner was Gatewood with Windsor and Pinewood finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.

LCA's top 5 overall scorers included team captain, Jacob Dudik in first place with a score of 251 out of three hundred, number 2 was first year shooter Dylan Alvarez at 223 and close behind at number 3 was freshman Will Anderson with a 221.  Our top five was rounded out by Owen Helsens at 215 and another first year shooter, Connor Gann at 214.    The top Skeet shooters for the Lions included Jacob Dudik at 94, Sarah Meyers at 88, Clayton Smith at 85, freshman Avery Head at 84 and Cecily Berry at 83. Top Sporting Clays honors go to Will Anderson with a 71, close on his heels was Owen Helsens at 70, freshman John Callaway tied him at 70 while Jacob Dudik and Jonathan Marshall both had scores of 69.  Trap scoring had Jacob Dudik shooting an 88, first year shooter Connor Gann with an 86, Dylan Alvarez shot an 85, new shooter Zach Bruno shot 79 and Gabrielle Berry shot a 77.

Many thanks go out to our coaches and parents for the countless hours they committed the team.  This teams growth and early success depends on their sacrifices.  While we graduate 5 seniors, the future looks bright for this young team. Students interested in getting involved with next years team should contact Coach Mike Davis and plan participate in our 2019 Shotgun Camp June 3-7.
