LOGANVILLE — Loganville Christian Academy’s goal of pursuing a state championship in football came up one point short in the first round of playoffs as they fell short to Trinity Christian (Dublin) 7-6 here Friday.

“It was our best game of the season,” LCA head coach Andre King said, “but we did miss some opportunities to make plays and we came up a little short.”

LCA (4-8) trailed the entire game after Trinity scored late in the first quarter.

The Lions’ only score came on a 66-yard pass from Cam Anderson to Jordan Jackson. A missed snap/hold kept the Lions from tying the score at the end of the second quarter.

“We didn’t win with special teams,” King said. “Our offense and defense played a great game but you have to win with special teams when everything else is equal.”

Anderson was 7 for 19 and 149 yards. Jackson caught four passes for 122 yards.

Lions fall to Heritage, finish season 4-7

Loganville Christian Academy finished their regular season with a 4-7 record and lost their final game 51-0 to the Heritage School, but the slate is wiped clean. The Lions host the first round of playoffs next week and keep their hopes alive for a state championship in football.

“You have to give Heritage credit,” said LCA head coach Andre King, “they made more plays than we did and we didn’t capitalize on the opportunities that we had.”

Numerous penalties and yielding short field position were also contributing factors in the Lions loss. Heritage scored once in the first quarter, three times in the second quarter, and four times in the third quarter.

King said he thinks LCA will play host next week to Trinity Christian out of Dublin in the first round of playoffs in the Georgia Independent School Association championships.
