The LCA Varsity track team had a victorious meet this Friday, March 23, at Mill Springs Academy. The team had a number of season best (SB) and personal record (PR) performances. This is an amazing accomplishment without having starting blocks for many of the races.
Dana Lucas and Brian Borrero blazed the track in the 200m both running their season best placing them in good position to qualify for state.
Our hurdler crew (Chloe Helsens, Gavin Sharp, Tucker Echols) showed valiant performances for their first time ever running the 100/110m hurdles and second time running the 300m hurdles. The hurdles is a tough race to run with obstacles to clear. Good job to our hurdlers!
All of our 800m runners (Ava Meier, Bailey Echols, Avery King) ran impressively under 3 minutes in the 800m. Being able to run 2 laps under 3 minutes is remarkable.
The field events had a great showing as well. Dylan Alvarez took 1st and Taurrya Owens took 4th in the shotput. Tucker Echols had a season best in the long jump. The field event finishes are always notable feats due to the fact we do not have a shotput ring or long jump pit to practice. Hats off to the field event crew!
The mighty LCA lions continue to demonstrate tenacity as we wrap up the season. Looking forward to our next track meet on Wednesday, March 28.
Who can? I can!
