Loganville Christian Academy’s Brian Borrero had a kickoff return for a touchdown during the Lions 28-21 loss to Deerfield-Windsor Friday night in Albany.

It was a long road trip down to Albany and an even longer trip back after Loganville Christian Academy lost a heartbreaker to Deerfield-Windsor 28-21 in overtime.

LCA got on the board first when the Lions scored a safety. The Lions held on to the slim lead late into the second quarter until Deerfield found the end zone with 2:17 left in the first half.

But Loganville cut the lead to two just before the half with a field goal by Bryson Franklin.

However, the scoring floodgates opened in the second half.

LCA got a big interception return for a touchdown by Keon McGee immediately after halftime to put the Lions up 11-7.

Deerfield regained the lead in the third with another touchdown, but LCA was able to answer when Brian Borrero returned a kickoff to the house to put the Lions back up 18-14.

Late in the fourth Franklin kicked another field goal to tie the game at 21 all with under five minutes left to play.

The two teams finished regulation and headed to overtime. In OT, Deerfield scored first and took a 28-21 lead. However, LCA was unable to answer this time and was held out of the end zone resulting in the loss.

The Lions get back to work next week with a Saturday contest with Notre Dame Academy in Duluth.
