Loganville Lady Lions season comes to an end Saturday versus Pinewood Christian Academy in the second round of the GISA state finals. Pinewood has won the state the past three years and now will go on to the state final 4. Raegan Waters proved to be too much for the Lady Lions by striking out 8 batters in the first game and 3 in the second game. The alone bright spot for the Lady Lions was a mammoth home run by 8th grader Cassie Boatright.
Lady Lions finished second place in Region 1 and made it to the final eight teams in GISA 3AAA. Overall the team showed great improvement on the season, with the team being so young and only losing three seniors, the future should be good for the next few years.
Game 1, Loganville Christian Academy Lady Lions watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 14-0 loss to Pinewood Christian on Saturday. Pinewood Christian scored on a single by Bell, a double by Waters, a single by Pirkle, a single by Jernigan, and a groundout by Anderson in the first inning.
The Lady Lions struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Pinewood Christian, giving up 14 runs.
One bright spot for the Lady Lions was a single by Sarah Meyers in the third inning.
Waters toed the rubber for Pinewood Christian. She went four innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out eight and walking zero.
Kirstie Busbee toed the rubber for the Lady Lions. She went one and one-third innings, allowing 12 runs on 12 hits and walking one. Allie Hughes threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
